A little something to remember me by...
So my time in Beijing is coming down to an end as I only have 2 more days left in this wonderful city. Everyone from the taxi drivers to my team out here have been really nice and helpful, so a big THANK YOU to all those whom I interacted with during my six weeks here. You guys truly made it a memorable experience, and I hope to return in the future.
The team here has been like a second family to me, and words cannot express the amount of gratitude I have for them. As a parting gift, I wanted to get the team something that would be practical, yet affordable for me. Since these guys are like family to me, I wanted to help watch after their health after I leave, and with summer and the yellow dust season coming, what would be more fitting than a welder's mask/sun shield visor? Thanks to the help of Mingchen, a local Beijinger, he bargained with the vendor lady for me. After an hour of bargaining, I ended up with 15 welder's masks and 20 choice items for my team in Mountain View (I'm not going to reveal what I bought them in case any of you guys are reading this). I must say, these bad boys are pretty wicked. They all came in various colors and the visor/shield part was tinted with hypercolor and came with an awesome sticker that said things like "this will trotect you from sun" (no that's not a typo on my part). I gave my farewell speech and distributed them at our team meeting tonight. Thanks everyone for a great time in Beijing...I will miss you all. Be mindful of the yellow dust and the UV rays of the summer sun. Here are a few pictures of us sporting the masks:
